Common questions

Can I import my existing inventory from Excel?: Yes. Upload a CSV or XLSX file with your product names and SKUs. StockSimple shows a preview, flags duplicates and errors, and only imports once you confirm.
How does barcode scanning work if I don't own a scanner?: You can generate and print barcode and QR labels directly from StockSimple, then scan them instantly using your phone or tablet camera. If you prefer typing, you can also search and adjust stock by standard SKU or product name in seconds. Barcode and QR labels and scanning are included on the Business, Multi-Location and Enterprise plans, and in your 14-day free trial.
Will StockSimple tell me when something is running low?: Yes. Switch on low-stock email alerts in Settings and StockSimple emails you once a day whenever products fall to or below their minimum level, listing each product, its SKU and how many are left. Automatic low-stock email alerts are included on every plan, including Starter Lite at $6.99 a month.
How do I do a stocktake without closing the shop?: Use stocktake mode. Start a count for one location, or just one category for a quick cycle count, and enter or scan what is physically on the shelf. StockSimple shows the difference line by line and applying the count records a proper stock adjustment for each product. Cycle counting and stocktake mode are included on the Business, Multi-Location and Enterprise plans, and in your 14-day free trial.
Can I see what my stock is worth and send it to my accountant?: Yes. The reports page values your stock at cost and at retail, shows the profit sitting on your shelves and what it would cost to restock, filtered by location or category.
